Dr. Hideaki Kobayashi

Dr. Hideaki Kobayashi
Dr. Hideaki Kobayashi earned his PhD in 1979 from Waseda University, School of Science and Engineering. In the 1980s and '90s he was an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of South Carolina, where he gained international acclaim for work in the field of knowledge-based system design. At this time Dr. Kobayashi also led a series of collaborative industry-university research and training projects, which were funded by leading global electronics companies based in the United States and Japan. Throughout his career in international business and engineering education, Dr. Kobayashi has encouraged talented young engineers to develop strong leadership skills combined with proficiency in international communication, including multiple languages, because "great careers require such skills in this Era of Globality." He maintains close ties to industry leaders worldwide, and now divides his time between the Knowledge Edge offices in Japan and China.
Brian Bershader

Brian Bershader
Brian Bershader graduated from Stanford University and is the former president and CEO of International Chip and Knowledge Based Silicon Corporations. He has held Japan-related management positions in hi-tech industry and government. Mr. Bershader works closely with Dr. Kobayashi on many of the company's day-to-day management and strategic planning issues. His areas of expertise include: shareholder relations, financing alternatives, public relations, personnel issues, licensing, and strategic partnerships.
Dr. Jim Davis

Dr. Jim Davis
Dr. Jim Davis is a long-time colleague and collaborator of Dr. Kobayashi. He oversees the development of the Knowledge Edge Group training portfolio, as well as our advanced assessment tools for screening program applicants. Dr. Davis earned his Ph.D. in 1989 from the University of South Carolina's Computer Engineering Department and has served on the faculty as an associate professor and faculty adjunct since 2002. He teaches Embedded Systems, VLSI Integrated Circuit Design, and Electronic Systems Design. In industry, Dr. Davis has held senior scientist and group/project/program management positions at NCR and Mitsubishi Electric. He has over a decade of experience working on all aspects of product engineering in Asian markets. An IEEE Senior Member, Dr. Davis is the author of over 50 papers and book chapters--on such topics as VLSI design, embedded systems, database design, software engineering, FPGA-based reconfigurable computing, and wireless networking. He actively conducts research in the areas of high-performance computing and wireless media systems simulation.
